January, February, March 2022 Update

PRAYER is the WORK that steers, strengthens and sustains the MISSION.

We believe we are called to a mission to transform Milwaukee and beyond.

We haven’t been posting or sending out social media statuses because of our devoted decision to fast and pray. We believe some things only happen by fasting and prayer.

"...I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”" (Matthew 17:20-21, NKJV)

The “behind-the-scenes” or “around the mountain” time with the Father is the most valuable investment in the movement of the mission. This is the example Jesus gave MHOP.

During our time of fasting and prayer, we heard the scripture of Isaiah 22:22:

“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open” (NIV).

Open Door: MPS and Local College Campuses!

(Left: Campus Prayer Station at MHOP. Right: MPS prayer space.)

God opened the door for MHOP to host a prayer room in a local MPS high school. Will you join us, through fasting and praying for the students, staff, faculty and our volunteers?

We are currently involved in Bible Study and prayer gatherings on two different college campuses. More than 25 students have visited MHOP in the past 6 months.

The Impact College Ministry 2022 Conference also invited us to host a prayer room for college students to kick off the year!

Without prayer, we know the mission will not happen. With man it’s impossible, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

Open Door: Mobile Prayer and Street Outreach Bus!

We had an exciting soft launch on Christmas Day. We drove the bus through Milwaukee, praying with and sharing needs with people and families on the streets. What we have learned in 20+ years of street ministry was reaffirmed: we go out to give and bless, but in return we get the greater blessings of them blessing us (love, humility, brokenness and trust in the Lord)! Will you join us in fasting and praying for a reduction in crime, homelessness and a victory in winning the lost in our city?

Open Door: Mobile Art Therapy Summer 2022!

The bus is ready.
We are praying for neighborhood sites.
We are building a team!
Will you pray about joining us*?
*Please pray with us for the mental health of our children and youth.

Open Door: Our House!

We opened our house to all of our slot leaders (those who commit to at least 2 hours of prayer each week at MHOP) for fellowship, sharing, and teaching. (Interested in joining the team? Click here for more information.)

Open Door: Human Sex Trafficking Outreach!

As many of you know, we have a prayer station to guide people in praying against human trafficking. This birthed an ongoing outreach ministry. If you are interested in joining, please contact us!

Isaiah 58:6-9 (MSG)

"“This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’"

Will you go with us?

We understand that not everyone is able to physically GO with us through the doors God has opened. We acknowledge and thank everyone who financially supports us. This mission would not be possible without the faithful financial support of the community of believers. In the times we are now facing, we need your financial help even more. Our children, youth and young adults need ongoing visibility of the Church and God's love. Will you pray and ask God how you can bless and support the mission financially?

Brothers and Sisters,

What a blessing to celebrate with so many of you at our banquet! We loved sharing with you some of the faces and people of MHOP, and our various outreaches! We were so encouraged by the event and hope you were, too.

Thank you so much to those who came, for hearing our stories and our heart. It was a successful night of community, unity, and praise to God. Thank you so much for your generosity!

We also want to thank those who donated items for our silent auction. God is good. Thank you!

Speakers

To those of you who shared a story about how MHOP has impacted you, we greatly appreciate your willingness. We know it was an encouragement and inspiration to many! We especially want to thank Joseph Steinke, Team Leader 24-7 Communities USA

If you want to hear what he shared, listen here!

Volunteers

Thank you so much to the crew who volunteered! Because of your willingness to serve, we were able to pull off our first ever Celebration Dinner and Silent Auction. Our volunteers cooked, served food, set up, cleaned up, and more! It made a world of a difference to us.

A special shout-out to Rayco, a professional cheff who cooked dinner for 90 and ran the kitchen! It was a blessing because he donated half of his fee back into Milwaukee House of Prayer! He is the husband of Abigail who attends Donna's women's prayer group.

Faces and Stories of the MHOP Community

  • The Butters led worship for the night and shared how they always feel the presence of God when they come to the house.

  • Johnny, Jesse and Marcus shared how they were blessed by prayer and discussion with Darnell on racial reconcilliation in such an intense and confusing time in America. The four of them agree that the outcome has been deeper, ongoing connection as brothers in Christ.

  • A young man shared that he didn’t know what he would do without the relationship with Donna, Darnell, and the Milwaukee House of Prayer.

  • The Zeidler family shared the House of Prayer is a favorite place for their family to worship together.

  • Jason, a Jewish friend of the house, gave a short teaching on Hanukkah.

  • Donya, one of Darnell and Donna’s daughters, gave a report of the growth and progress of the different ministries and transformations.

These are just a few of the stories that were shared!

I believe the majority of us are looking for 2022 to be a greater year than 2021. For MHOP, this is possible with your 2021 year-end giving. Your partitipation helps us continue to thrive. Every gift shows tha you support prayer, mission, and justice in the greater Milwaukee area. Would consider including MHOP in your end-of-2021 giving? Thank you!
