Ongoing and Past Ministries of the Milwaukee House of Prayer

Mobile Food Pantry

Our food pantry ministry started with a food pantry 25 years ago. Many Milwaukee neighborhoods are considered food deserts- an urban community a mile or more from a grocery store, where it is difficult to buy fresh, nutritious foods. We decided to convert our purple bus into a mobile food pantry to better get nutritious food to people who need it.

In 2020, we partnered with ECC Central Conference to deliver food and gift cards to families in need during the COVID crisis.

In 2021, our collaboration with our mobile food pantry and Thanksgiving Boxes of Love fed 70 families.

Human Sex Trafficking Outreach

A group of women intercessors at the Milwaukee House of Prayer began taking the purple mobile ministry bus into the city to engage with women in sex trafficking and give them gifts. Some of these gifts were donated by Victoria Secret.

One of the original prayer stations at MHOP was the station guiding intercessors in praying against human sex trafficking. We are thankful for this open door to minister to these women we have been praying for!

Children and Youth Ministries

Since the 1990’s Darnell and Donna have been working with Milwaukee youth and children, discipling them and showing them the love of the Father. Read below to learn more about these various ministries.

Sidewalk Sunday School from 1995 to present, presenting the gospel to local children. We use the purple ice cream truck for this weekly event, and all the props, sound equipment and the stage only take a few minutes to set up and take down. Sidewalk Sunday School includes, prayer, worship through music, teaching, object lessons and clear gospel presentations.

For the past 15 years, we have had an amazing partnership with Jeff Hoffman, Steve Papaz, and the Cru Inner City Summer Mission Team.

Quiet Spaces in Schools

In the 2021-2022 school year we opened a prayer room at a local Milwaukee Public High School. Darnell and Donna currated a set of prayer stations from what they already use at the house, the needs they know the studnets have as well as Prayer Spaces in Schools resources.

The Quiet Space is open two days a week for students as well as staff to come and go. It is staffed by MHOP volunteers who are there to guide students. They also pray over students, the school and the district.

Mobile Art Therapy

Art therapy is a powerful way to bring healing to people of all ages. In 2021, we started using the purple mobile ministry bus to bring art therapy specifically to the children and youth of Milwaukee.

Art therapy can help reduce anxiety and stress, and help improve mental health.

Harvest Kids is a daycare center in Milwaukee. We believe that children thrive and prosper the most in home settings with both parents. Most parents would love to be able to provide this. However, the reality of life is that sometimes parents aren’t able to stay home full-time to rear their children.

That is where we come in.

Harvest Kids is a team partnering with parents to provide an unsurpassed loving and nurturing, extended-family environment through which our children

Will be ensured of having the greatest opportunities to become responsible members of their own families and leaders in our society.

At Harvest Kids, we believe in coming together with the parents to provide a unified approach to rearing their child(ren). Many times, children lead double lives, one at the childcare center, and the other at home. We strive to reinforce the values children learn from their parents at home.

College Student Ministry

Another highlight for Milwaukee House of Prayer was the number of college campus students and ministries that has visited MHOP and have participated in hours of prayer and worship. We have had students visit from MSOE, MATC, Ethnos 360, WCTC, UWM, Marquette, Collumbia and more!

We have a vision to see God's move on all of our Campuses in Milwaukee. We know this will take the different and unique campus ministries coming together to share God's love with students who have yet to receive Christ.

We believe Ecclesiastes 4:9 which says “two are better than one because they have a better return for their labor”. Coming together can have an everlasting Kingdom impact for King Jesus. We believe that as holy ambassadors and the royal priesthood we can win the campuses together. One of the young adults who visited observed, “Whoever wins the campus wins the world.”

On February 27th, 2020 from 6-9pm, Milwaukee House of Prayer partnered with different college campuses and campus ministries to host a night of Worship and Prayer on the National Collegiate Day of Prayer.

We host several nights of College Campus Prayer.

At the Milwaukee House of Prayer, we offer counseling as well as a safe, relaxing place to rest or meditate.

In 2021, Donna Robinson counseled over 250 hours, helping women and children find peace and freedom by discovering and addressing the root problems they are facing.
